1. Sesto San Giovanni
An English breakfast to start the day off right, then head to the city center of Milan. We pass by the “Campari Towers” and the company’s headquarters, then we visit the Football Store located just behind the Duomo of Milan. There you can find real relics such as the jersey of the Italian football team that won the 2006 World Cup in Germany, as well as jerseys of football legends, as well as the new club “FC Zeta Milano”.
2. Milan – Corso di Porta Romana
We go to my favorite Neapolitan Pizzeria (and by far) in Milan, accessible quite easily by Metro (not far from the Duomo) in Corso di Porta Romana Street.
Usually I take the “Una Bella Margherita”, but this time I try the “Napulatina” with capers and anchovies, both are simply perfect.
And in addition, the prices are very affordable.
3. Piazza Mercanti
Now visit the Piazza Mercanti (Merchants’ Square) located between the Duomo and Piazza Cordusio.
It was the center of the City during the medieval period.
We can also see the Monument to “Vittorio Emanuele II”, a Monument in Honor of the Milanese Resistance, and a temporary Exhibition on AC Milan.
4. Castello Sforzesco
We are going to visit the Sforza Castle in Milan.
Built in the 14th century by the Visconti family, then renovated by the Sforza Family, the Castle has had several lives: Military fortress, luxurious residence, art walls…
We were able to attend the Bookcity Milan event (organized from November 11 to 17, 2024), it is the Book Festival. Many Italian and foreign publishers were able to exhibit their books.
5. Parco Sempione
Discovery of the green lung of Milan, the Parco Sempione.
At the end of the Park, we see the Arc de la Paix, L’Arco della Pace (Arch of Peace). This triumphal arch dates from the 19th century.
During the walk we pass in front of the metal tower “Torre Branca”, 108 meters high.
There is also a “Casa Bleue” event for supporters of the French team (tonight there is the Italy – France Match as part of the Nations League), but obviously we can’t go there (we wear the Italian jersey).
Above all, we discover a very peaceful and pleasant setting and magnificent small bodies of water.
There are also other places to visit in the Park, but unfortunately this time we won’t have time because we have to go visit the terraces of the Duomo:
– The Civic Aquarium of Milan
– The Sirens Bridge
– The Arena Civica
6. Terraces of the Duomo
I went up to the top of the Duomo by elevator (reservation required).
Once at the top, the panorama is breathtaking.
We can see the San Siro Stadium, the Castello Sforzesco, the futuristic Porta Nuova district, and even the Alps…
The architecture, the statues, gargoyles, flying buttresses of the Terraces, is an experience not to be missed. And especially not to miss the golden Statue of Madodina for all AC or Inter Milan fans.
Be careful, it is strictly forbidden to wear a football jersey or scarf on match days!
7. Here is the Pre-match Italy – France for the Nations League.
Nothing better than eating at the Stadium (Italian street food), I find it much better and cheaper than in other stadiums in Europe, especially if you take a “Panino al Salsiccia con Cipolla e Peperoni”.
We discover a giant screen (really giant…) extra-large where the Italian Team welcomes. On this screen are shown the best moments of the Nazionale like the 2006 World Cup in Berlin!
Place au Match Italie – France (Ligue des Nations) dans le mythique Stadio San Siro.
Malheureusement, match perdu 1-3.
