1. France – Switzerland – Italy
We left Moselle by bus to spend the weekend in Milan, visit Lake Como and attend the Milan – Inter Derby.
After about 7 hours by bus, we cross the Swiss-Italian border (Brogeda Customs) then we arrive at the Como gas station to have a classic Italian breakfast, Espresso and pistachio brioche, before taking a Taxi to Como.

2. Lake Como
We start our day by visiting the city center of Como, a magnificent city on the shores of the lake of the same name, one of the most famous lakes in Italy and even in the world.
We visit the historic city center of Como, and the “Duomo di Como”, the majestic Cathedral (Gothic and Renaissance architecture) with its white marble facade.
Then, a short walk around the lake to admire the panoramic views. The waters are rather calm and reflect the surrounding mountains, and we can see magnificent Villas.
3. Como-Brunate Funicular
Arriving early, we entered this charming little wooden cabin and then took the funicular.
Once at the top, a panorama of the lake and the green hills awaited us.
A short coffee break on the terrace is a must, facing a breathtaking view, and an infinity pool hidden in the heights.
After a long and exhausting walk (it’s a climb!) we see the church of Brunate and the lighthouse.
A perfect start to the day between nature, history and discoveries.
4. Como
We continue to explore the center of Como, a charming city nestled between lake and mountains, but also a city where calcio (football) occupies a very important place.
We visit the official Como 1907 store, where fans can find everything they need to support their team: jerseys, scarves, pennants…
In the center of the store, we see a huge portrait of the former Milanese Patrick Cutrone (“Il Bomber”).
We continue the visit of the small picturesque alleys of the historic center and we discover murals, ancient buildings, flowery arches…
Then, head to the Monument dedicated to the famous Alessandra Volta, physicist known for the invention of the electric battery, born and died in Como.
5. Ferry between Como and Bellagio (Part 1)
We embark on an unforgettable crossing of the Lake between Como and Bellagio.
The crossing is truly magnificent and spectacular, we are literally surrounded by majestic mountains, charming villages clinging to the green hills, every moment is a discovery. A living “Postcard”.
During the crossing, we see many Villas, Como is known for its luxury tourism and some very rich inhabitants, even George Clooney would have one here.
6. Ferry between Como and Bellagio (Part 2)
Continuation of the crossing of the Lake between Como and Bellagio.
7. Ferry between Como and Bellagio (Part 3)
Sailing on Lake Como is like living a waking dream.
We pass in front of the sumptuous Villa Balbianello, very popular because it was used for the filming of the scenes between Hayden Christensen and Natalie Portman in Star Wars, episode II Attack of the Clones by George Lucas (2002).
I also enjoy an Aperol Spritz, it’s not just a crossing, it’s an immersion in the Italian soul.
We finally arrive at our destination, Bellagio, disembarkation imminent.
8. Bellagio
We arrive in Bellagio by Boat/Ferry from Como My arrival in Bellagio, nicknamed the “Pearl of Lake Como”.
Bellagio seduces with its picturesque alleys, its peaceful “Bella vita” atmosphere and its spectacular landscapes.
Walking through the narrow cobbled streets, we find ourselves transported to another era: Houses with colorful facades, artisan shops, small restaurants that line the stairs, flower gardens and shaded paths…
In the late afternoon, before returning to Milan, we taste ravioli with fresh herbs, a typical dish of the region, simple but tasty.
9. Sesto San Giovanni – Sardinian Restaurant
After this wonderful day at Lake Como, we return by train to our Hotel “Grand Hotel Barone Di Sassj” in Sesto San Giovanni (located in the suburbs of Milan) and we dine in the Restaurant “Vento di Sardegna”.
Delicious meal: Sardinian Culurgionis d’Ogliastra (also called or culurgiònes in Sardinian language or culurgiònis), espresso coffee and Mirto (Sardinian myrtle liqueur).
