Round trip by bus organized on the same day in Milan to see the Serie A match Milan – Atalanta, we arrive at the San Siro Stadium (last photo).
This morning I visit one of the most unique places in Milan: the Monumental Cemetery.
It is a real open-air museum, the funeral tombs (of many families of the Milanese bourgeoisie as well as Italian artists such as the writer Alessandro Manzoni) are true artistic works of great beauty while honoring the memory of the deceased.
The most famous monument is the tomb that strongly resembles the Tower of Pisa.
And know that our four-legged friends are also welcome !
Monumental Cemetery of Milan
Continuing the visit, we continue our way through the silent alleys of the Monumental Cemetery of Milan, we come across a striking sculpture representing a peasant and his oxen, symbol of the work of the land at the time.
We also see a magnificent ancient wall with inscriptions in Latin and the inscription “You are dust and to dust you will return.”
Not far from there, an impressive wall of funerary niches (typical of Italian cemeteries).
