In a spectacular match, the Grenats quickly opened the score in the 8th minute thanks to a superb strike from Lenny Joseph.
But Rennes then reacted and equalized in the 28th with a goal from Martin Terrier, and even took the lead just before the break thanks to Jérémy Doku.
Second half, Metz equalized again thanks to a magnificent free kick (Georges Mikautadze, 62nd), but lost in the 79th minute on a Penalty from Lovro Majer (79th minute).

Despite the defeat, the atmosphere was exceptional at the stadium. A pyrotechnic show, accompanied by the famous Dragon Graouly, amazed the 27,890 spectators present.
