๐Ÿ‡ซ๐Ÿ‡ท Zuydcoote – National Necropolis

Not far from Fort des Dunes, I take the opportunity to visit the Zuydcoote National Necropolis, a place of remembrance and contemplation.
Built near the dunes and the North Sea, the Necropolis is a place full of history where thousands of soldiers who fell during several world conflicts, in particular the First World War (1914-1918) and the Second World War (1939-1945), are buried.
On the edge of the dunes, the natural setting is particularly well preserved.
This necropolis includes several military squares: Christian tombs and a Muslim square recalling the presence of soldiers from North Africa.
Commemorative ceremonies are regularly held here, inviting everyone to reflect on the horror of wars and the importance of peace.
