Visit this morning to the “Parc Explor Wendel” in Petite-Rosselle, a must-see place in Lorraine to discover the mining history of Lorraine.
We discover the impressive industrial structures, old mining buildings, the old miners’ canteen (often called “gueules noires”), the place where the coal was stored, old trains and wagons, as well as a huge and imposing mining shearer, an emblematic tool used to cut coal.
This site full of history is located in a green setting, and it is also possible to visit the museum, and a restaurant is also present on site, the Atelier 1904.
Lorraine is a region rich in natural resources (coal, iron, etc.) and has been one of the main places of the mining industry in France since at least the 19th century.
