2nd day in London, at Wembley. As usual, “Full English Breakfast” for me: toast, butter, egg, bacon, tomatoes, fried mushrooms, hash browns, white beans, sausages, black pudding, Worcestershire sauce and black tea…
Then head to the Westminster District by Metro.
I will visit the Parliament of London this morning (reservation on the internet is mandatory), in the meantime I revisit the Central Square of Westminster.
I have a magnificent view of Big Ben, with a view of the large statue of Winston Churchill and the London Double-decker Buses.
On this Square, there are also many statues and historical stellae, especially Gandhi, Mandela and Abraham Lincoln.
This morning, I visit the Palace of Westminster and the Parliament of London, located on the banks of the Thames, it is one of the most emblematic institutions of the United Kingdom and an architectural marvel listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987.
Unfortunately, I cannot show you photos of the interior of Parliament because photos are prohibited, with a few exceptions.
I was able to visit the different rooms:
– The House of Commons, the Lower House: MPs debate and vote on laws here, the benches are green and in the middle we find the Speaker’s Chair.
– The House of Lords, the Upper House: Magnificently decorated and adorned with gilding and magnificent tapestries, we can also see the Royal Throne.
– Westminster Hall: One of the oldest parts of the Palace (1097).
– St Stephen’s Hall: Former chapel which today houses statues and paintings relating to British Parliamentary history.
