1. Departure for Diest in Belgium
On July 8, 2023, we set off on an express getaway trip to Belgium, heading to Diest (Flemish Brabant, Flanders).
The landscape is confusing, wind farms and solar panels everywhere.
2. Diest
Visit to the city of Diest in Belgium (Flanders), I discover a quiet and authentic place, typically Belgian.
Cobbled streets, characterful brick houses, typical Northern mills, a natural, simple and authentic setting.
3. Diest Beguinage
Visit to the Diest Beguinage in Belgium.
The site is a listed historic monument, with its statues of nuns, houses with green shutters, and the “Art Nouveau” style fresco and the interior courtyard.
4. Diest – Mussels and seafood
For me, it is impossible to go to Belgium without eating a good casserole of Mussels!
A generous and delicious pot of mussels and seafood with grey shrimps and accompanied by a very fresh Tripel dโAnvers (Warning: Alcohol dangerous for health), and all this on the terrace facing the imposing Saint-Sulpice collegiate church. Without reservation, but we had the last place by chance.
5. Diest by night
Night trip to Diest, Belgium.
We see the Saint-Sulpice collegiate church, a true Gothic jewel that is revealed under spectacular lighting with its arches, sculptures and brick facades.
There is also the “De Gulden Boom” building with its illuminated red bricks.
And to finish, a friendly evening on the terrace with its warm lights and breathtaking views.
And we also drink the famous Belgian beers but be careful because alcohol is dangerous for your health.
